Step 4: Student Shadow Day

Once your application packet is complete, we will contact you to schedule a Shadow Day for your child.  This experience of shadowing another student gives your child an opportunity to get to know what Double Helix is all about while also giving the teachers a chance to interact with and learn more about each applicant.

Step 5: Acceptance

Shortly after your child’s Shadow Day, the staff will meet to identify which students would be a good fit for the Double Helix program. As we evaluate each applicant, we take into consideration:

• availability of space in each class

• teacher recommendations

• past disciplinary records

• family interviews

• whether or not we can accommodate each student’s needs given our resources

Acceptance letters will be delivered once decisions have been made.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until all available slots have been filled.

Step 6: Enrollment

Once you accept the admissions offer and financial aid package, the final step of the admissions process is to officially enroll your child in Double Helix using our online portal.

Step 3: Apply for Financial Aid

Double Helix is pleased to offer our families five forms of financial aid. Approximately 80% of our students receive financial assistance. You have the option to apply for one of the following:

1. Georgia Special Needs Scholarship

• for students with an IEP/504 Plan moving from public to private school

• application opens in July 2025

  2. Georgia Promise Scholarship Program

• for students moving from an underperforming public school to a private school

• application opens in January 2025

  3. Georgia Tuition Tax Credit Scholarship 

• for students moving from public school or homeschool to private school

• application can be done at any time

  4. Double Helix Financial Aid

• needs-based

• application can be done at any time

  5. Pay-in-Full/Sibling Discount

• 5% discount

• pay in full by June 2025
